Robotech (Titan Comics)Yesterday Titan Comics revealed they’ve entered into an agreement with Harmony Gold USA to produce comics based on the hit 1980’s series Robotech. Fans may recall Robotech was a compilation of three unrelated Japanese anime titles (The Super Dimension Fortress Macross, Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and Genesis Climber Mospeada) rewritten for American audiences as an 85 episode syndicated program. English language audiences haven’t seen new Robotech comics since last year’s Dynamite Entertainment releases.

On a side note, you can watch every episode of Robotech (at no charge) at Crackle.

The announcement:

Titan Comics ignite the engines of the cult 80s series, Robotech, ready to deploy a series of brand new comic books!

First airing in the USA in 1985, Robotech captured audience’s imaginations with its epic generational storylines involving war, romance, and, of course, the transforming Veritech fighters which defend the Earth against extra-terrestrial attacks. Produced by Harmony Gold USA, the original 85-episode series delved into humanity’s struggle against a series of alien invasions, from the gigantic Zentraedi to the mysterious Invid, battling for control of advanced alien technology that crash-landed on Earth. Now, return to the Robotech Saga for all-new adventures!

“At Titan we’re thrilled to be publishing brand new Robotech comic books,” said Direct Sales & Marketing Manager Ricky Claydon. “It’s a privilege to contribute to the rich galactic tapestry of such a beloved franchise. Titan Comics promises to delight original fans and newcomers alike.”

Tommy Yune, President of Animation at Harmony Gold USA added, “Inspired storytelling is a cornerstone of the Robotech universe and we’re absolutely thrilled to have a partner with a respected editorial pedigree as Titan.”

With annual global meet-ups and conventions, a fast-growing social media following, as well an avid collector market for toys and merchandise, Robotech fans are passionate supporters of this amazing cult franchise.

Titan Comics’ Robotech series is set to debut early 2017. Look for announcements of the creative team very shortly.
