Wizards of the Coast is reprinting the old Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rulebooks: The first edition Player’s Handbook, Dungeon Master’s Guide, and Monster Manual will all be available in limited-run, “premium reprints” exclusively through hobby channels starting April 17th. I’m not sure if this means they will be available only in stores that are part of the WotC network, FLGSs in general, or possibly online as well. The retail price looks as if it will be around $120 for the set.

The interiors of the books will be the original content only but the covers will feature new art. And in recognition of one of the game’s original creators, some of the proceeds from this release will go to support the Gygax Memorial Fund, which is building a statue of Gary in his hometown of Lake Geneva, Wisconsin.

Key Features:

• These premium versions of the original AD&D rulebooks by Gary Gygax make ideal additions to any game collector’s bookshelf or the perfect gift for the nostalgic D&D player.

• Each book has been lovingly reprinted with the original art and content, but features an attractive new cover design commemorating this re-release of the AD&D core rules.

• Available in limited quantities for a short time only, these are sure to be collectible.

• This is a hobby channel exclusive in North America. That means that players and collectors will be looking to you to pick up their copies.

Don’t be surprised if some of your friends outside North America start bugging you about scoring these for them!

  2. I have corrected that. I took the link from the original news piece I was sent but didn’t double check it. Thanks for the catch Alex!
