Marvel Comics released a bare bones teaser Wednesday which implied the return of the X-Treme X-Men in July. For more concrete details fans will obviously have to wait for Marvel Editor Tom Brevoort’s “Talk to the Hat” panel tomorrow, at WonderCon, to get the scoop
Marvel created X-Treme X-Men as a third X-Men title in 2001, when the world of X-Men comics underwent a major upheaval. The series lasted 46 issues, all of which were written by Chris Claremont. The series was replaced on Marvel’s schedule by Joss Whedon and John Cassaday’s Astonishing X-Men in 2004. The X-Treme X-Men’s original lineup included Storm Rogue, Gambit, Bishop, Sage, Thunderbird, Psylocke and Beast. Beast left and Psylocke was killed in the early issues. New characters introduced in the series included Lifeguard and Slipstream, and the Red Lotus.
