Peter Parker Bites the Dust – A First Look at The Superior Spider-Man

In a move guaranteed to tick off Marvel fans across the board, Peter Parker is not only no longer Spider-Man but is no longer even drawing breath. As events unfold in Amazing Spider-Man #700 archnemesis Doctor Octopus has tricked Peter into switching bodies with the dying villain and now Otto Octavius will take up the mantle of the web slinger as Parker appears to have taken a dirt nap.

Marvel editor Stephen Wacker told USA Today: “We want to do Spider-Man by way of Batman — a little creepier and darker.”

Well if that’s the case maybe Wacker should just dust off Moon Knight for another run rather than destroying a comic book icon?

As part of the Marvel Now event The Superior Spider-Man #1 hits stands on January 9th but I’ll guess Parker will be out of the spotlight for six to twelve months tops and then return to his role as Ol’ Webhead!
