While there is no denying the power, access, and might that Internet has allowed us to do even without going out of our own room, we should also be aware of some important things in life. You might have already spent a Saturday night at home playing your favorite roulette games from your desktop computer while in your pajamas. But, have you stopped a moment to ask yourself, “When was the last time I have been in a land-based casino, the traditional one?” If you answer, “well, it has been a long while,” then this article is for you. We will be listing down important tips on casino etiquettes one should know, the dos and don’ts that would make or break your casino experience. Not to mention, this list may even help you save yourself from an embarrassment we know you do not wish to happen. It is important that you behave in manner that is acceptable and is expected of you when stepping foot in a casino.

Nope, drop that selfie stick, millennial.

If not all casinos, most properties in the world would not tolerate its customers to take photos of themselves and other people especially while you are on the gaming floor and on the casino table. The use of electronic gadgets and devices within casino premises is usually met with raised eyebrows, and we also discourage it. If you are not aware, casinos use modern jammers that block signals so it would prove to be difficult for you as well to post a gratuitous selfie on your Facebook profile. Better keep your flashy iPhones inside your pockets. If you wish to immortalize Vegas, you may take photos outside the casino—not inside, unless of course you wish to be thrown outside by a bulky security guard.

Dress up like you’re going to an Instagram photoshoot.

Dressing up is never mandatory, but it is encouraged. If there is one thing Millennials can do right, it is dressing up like a millionaire. Forget those tacky flip-flops and Hawaiian shirts. Sport those suit and ties and long black gowns and stilettos. If you plan to have a good time in a casino, you must also look good. Of course, some may argue that dressing up would not increase the chances of you winning the jackpot, but hey, at least you are going home still beautiful. And everyone will be looking at you, and not on their slot machines.

Be aware of the table’s limit before you sit down.

Before you sit down at a specific table, it is crucial that you are aware of the table’s limit because you would not know whether or not you are sitting in a table with super high limit and you have tight funds. You would not want to spend all your money just because you sat on a table with high limit. Have a good time and try to play as many games as possible.

Put a smile on, talk to your co-players.

People go to casino have two things in mind: win big pots and have hell of a fun. If you also aim for these two, go on and strike a conversation with other players beside you. You may start by simply introducing yourself, talking the edge off, and smile. But one must be aware of the difference between annoying and friendly. Never go beyond the usual topics of small talk. Never ask anyone their middle names, or the names of their boyfriends or girlfriends. The same goes to yourself, do not overshare. Keep talking to a casual minimum, light enough to keep the table happy but just enough not to distract the dealer and the other players.

Never ever cash out at the table.

There is no more emphasis than “never ever” cash out at the table. Cashing out should only be done between hands. IF you wish to call it a night and cash out, stack your chips in a manner that is orderly and the dealer would then count them. Then he or she will hand over the money. This is something that separates the experienced from the inexperienced. Beginners will draw attention by starting to count his or her money at the table. Since you know better now, the right way to do it is to walk away from the table and counting it somewhere else.

Tipping is appreciated, but not mandatory.

Your fun gaming experience will never be complete without having your favorite Manhattan or Old School, or Margarita. Drinking helps you have more fun, relax, and enjoy your game more. Whether you are on a losing streak or you just keep winning huge pots of money, you must not forget to consider tipping the waitress who served your Mojito and fries or the dealer who gave you the best gaming experience. These staff rely heavily on tips as their hourly wage is kept at minimum. Consider giving tips.

Do not throw fits like a baby.

Casinos are founded due to the increasing need for entertainment. It is a good place to meet new faces and names with the same interest as yours. If you start losing in a row, do not throw a fit and cause a scene. Blaming the dealer will not be a good thing to do. Arguing with other players is not also a good idea. Control your emotions and keep it intact. If you ever feel like bursting, step out for a moment for fresh air. Go for a walk. Never ruin other people’s night just because you are losing.

Never ask your dealer for advice.

Your dealers can and will answer questions about rules, limits, and payouts while smiling, but it is discouraged to ask your dealer for advice regarding the game. It is a bad idea since doing so will put your dealer in a risky situation as you can put the blame on them if the game turns out against your favor. You should know better than trust anyone with decisions like this. Before going to a casino, make sure you are able to make your own decisions and trust them.
