Asmodee Editions has added their game Identik to our Gaming Gang Birthday Scavenger Hunt.

If you’ve already entered, don’t worry you are still qualified for entry to win all of the prizes. If you have been waiting for the pot to sweeten, wait no longer. You now have 12 questions to answer on the TGG Scavenger Hunt Page, with the possibility of more to come!

Remember, the contest runs throughout September, after which we will draw a single winner from all of the correct entries.

Here is the info about Identik, if you don’t know about it:

The goal in Identik, as in many other games, is to score the most points. Each round, one player will draw a card. The lower part of the card is hidden, leaving only the picture at the top. That player will have until the hourglass runs out to describe the picture as well as he can. The other players will draw what they hear. When time runs out, everyone puts aside their pencils and the bottom of the card is revealed. Ten details are listed there, and players will score one point for each detail that appears in their drawings, as will the reader who described the picture.

Identik is a game of listening and communicating, so no drawing skills are needed. You will need to listen very carefully to draw your sketches, and the player describing the picture must be as clear as possible, because only when communication is at its highest will you be able to score points.

Here are a few tips to help you describe the scene:

Start with a general description of the drawing, as an overview. Is it a flying saucer making a landing, an acrobat on a unicycle, or something else (we’ll avoid too many examples, to keep from spoiling it for you)?

Then start the description, starting with the central subject. Does he wear a hat? Are both eyes open? Does he have a patch on his left leg? Describing these details will help everyone, including yourself.

Finally, sweep from left to right or top to bottom. Is there something in the sky? What’s on the ground? Make sure you don’t leave anything out!

And don’t forget numbers! There are five stars, seven rays of the sun, or four balls on his feet. Positioning is also important – the stars are above the spaceship or the flowers are between the dog’s legs.

The challenge is to relay and remember all those details, because you can be sure that the authors of the game have thought of the details you forgot!

Of course, all this must be done within the limits imposed by the hourglass, making Identik a challenge where your brain will be working harder that your wrist.
