Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game Kickstarter Funds in First Three Minutes

The Blade Runner RPG Kickstarter is off and running

Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game (Free League Publishing)Earlier today Free League Publishing launched a Kickstarter to bring Blade Runner: The Roleplaying Game to the masses and the project funded in three minutes. The RPG promises to take GMs and players into Philip K. Dick’s dystopian 2030s wrapped in all the aesthetics of the feature films. As of this writing, the project has passed $500k funding and you can reserve a copy of the core rulebook and starter set for a $51.00 pledge or grab them in PDF for a $31.00 pledge through May 26th. Expected delivery is this November.

About the game:

This is the BLADE RUNNER roleplaying game – a neon-noir wonderland that’ll take your breath away. One way or another. An evocative world of conflicts and contrasts that dares to ask the hard questions and investigate the powers of empathy, the poisons of fear, and the burdens of being human during inhumane times. An iconic and unforgiving playground of endless possibilities that picks you up, slaps you in the face, and tells you to wake up.
Time to live. Or time to die

Designed by Free League – the publishers of award-winning RPGs such as the ALIEN RPG, The One Ring, MÖRK BORG, Vaesen – Nordic Horror Roleplaying, and Tales From the Loop – the BLADE RUNNER RPG propels players into the neon noir streets of Los Angeles as Blade Runners. Set in the year 2037, the adventures begin shortly after the Wallace Corporation debuts the new Nexus-9 Replicants on Earth, giving players the choice to play as either human or Replicant Blade Runners with different specialties, personalities, and memories.

Apart from the core casework, the RPG will both in setting and mechanics also showcase key themes of Blade Runner – action, corporate intrigue, existential character drama, and moral conflict – that encourage roleplaying and challenge player characters to question their orders, empathize with their enemies, and make hard calls with high stakes and long-lasting implications.

Tomas Härenstam, Free League co-founder and lead game designer of the ALIEN RPG, fills the same role for the BLADE RUNNER RPG. Original artwork comes from lead ALIEN RPG artist Martin Grip, with Joe LeFavi of Genuine Entertainment, who also brokered the deal with Alcon for Free League, serving as the lead setting writer, brand manager, and producer on the game series.
