I review the collector’s slipcase edition of the John Carter of Mars RPG (which includes the core Adventures on the Dying World of Barsoom corebook and Phantoms of Mars campaign supplement) from Modiphius Entertainment. Plus the latest tabletop gaming news from Arc Dream Publishing, Modiphius, Victory Point Games, and more.

Summary
There's a lot to like with the collector's slipcase and the more impressive of the two tomes is the core book. Once again the tried and true 2D20 system is at work but it seems to me to be a bit more streamlined and less crunchy that I've seen with either Conan or Star Trek Adventures. I think the core is very well done and give it an 8.9 out of 10. The supplement however is alright with an interesting campaign adventure but far too much of the page count is taken up by the skirmish miniature rules, which will probably not be of much use to those only interested in the RPG. I score Phantoms of Mars a 6.8 out of 10.
