The follow-up to the Ascension IOS game has been released by Playdek. Here’s your chance to pick up the first mobile expansion to the game. We don’t speak much about IOS games, but we do on occasion, and I was impressed with Playdek’s work on Ascension that I got a peep of at Gencon (or Origins, I can’t remember).

Here’s all the details:

Playdek, a leading mobile video game publisher, announced today the release of its highly-anticipated follow up game Ascension: Return of the Fallen, an expansion pack to the award-winning Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, featuring new heroes, monsters and mechanics to engage players. Originally designed by card game creator Gary Games, Return of the Fallen allows stand-alone play or play in combination with the first hit Ascension game. Designed as a universal iOS application, Ascension: Return of the Fallen is available for download as an In-App purchase from the Apple Store.

Giving players the satisfaction of defeating nightmarish monsters by throwing them into the Void forever, Ascension: Return of the Fallen brings out the hero in everyone. This fast-paced deck-building fantasy game is based on the premise that Samael the Fallen God has returned to bring evil to the world. Players must overcome monstrous obstacles and assemble an army to defeat him by collecting cards and tallying up points. The game has more than 120 different hand-drawn images and offers compelling gameplay elements that make repeat play a must.

“Our first game Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer gave people a taste of what great hobby games can be like on a mobile device. We’ve had a great response, including winning a Golden Geek Award for Best mobile/handheld game of 2011, and we’re thrilled to offer the expansion, introducing more people than ever to the captivating world of Ascension,” said Joel Goodman, CEO of Playdek. “Gary Games is one of the great deck game developers and we’re thrilled to help the company bring Ascension to new audiences.”

The game can be played both online or offline and is designed for one to two players, or four players if combined with Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer. Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer is required to play Ascension: Return of the Fallen.
