While The Dark Eye is pretty interesting and all the content out there makes me want to explore the setting further, I'm not sure what sort of gamer the English edition is aimed toward; the system is on the complex side so newcomers to the hobby might be overwhelmed while long time fans of D&D or Pathfinder probably won't be inclined to make a change. I do recommend The Dark Eye but point out, just as with other RPGs, you'll need to pick up more than the core book to really run the system.
