Elliott and Jeff are back and they’re in their usual form – We’re not sure if that’s a good or bad thing…

On the gaming table, for review this time around, is Faux-Cabulary from Out of the Box Publishing, as well as War of Honor and Nightfall: Martial Law, both from AEG.

Jeff shares his thoughts regarding his visit to ConSimWorld Expo 2011, meeting with the gang from Victory Point Games and where the amazing TGG shirts make their first public appearance.

Plus rumblings of Weehawken mania begins.

Download the show to take it on the go right here!

And don’t forget, The Gaming Gang is available on iTunes!

  1. Once again, an awesome podcast! I know I would LOVE to buy a Gaming Gang polo and wear it proudly to all the Cons I go to – so put one in the ‘yes’ column for me. Keep up the fire…I mean keep up the good work and thanks for the 90 mintues of gaming gang goodness!
Remember to get some rest and hydrate before Origins 🙂

  2. Jeff! You guys rock – another great podcast. It was such a pleasure hanging out with you at CSW Expo. You are a real asset to this hobby and a great guy with which to discuss games or just have a beer. I’m looking forward to your VPG special podcast and to seeing you at other comventions. Be well and good luck to the Gaming Gang. Hopefully we can actually meet Elliott! Hermann

  3. Jeff, it was great to meet you at the CSW Expo! Not only does TGG inject some very funny humor into the hobby, both of you are very entertaining and very informative as well. Definitely put me down for one of the polo shirts, but I will pass on the hand-delivery/corpse worn option (though Hermann may want one, haha). So, you got to fly a single plane as the Japanese in DiF, and you also ran the entire early Pacific War with Emperor – very cool. Thanks for the mention in the Expo highlights, and I will look forward to the upcoming special podcast with VPG interviews. Thnx Again-

  4. Man, I really wish I had been able to go to the expo. Sounds like it was a great time had by all. I’m glad you guys liked the show. The hardest thing to get is feedback, especially when someone likes the show. Usually the only time anyone says anything is when they hate it. I give special thanks out to Jeff, as he is the man who takes on the onerous task of editing the show and adding in the nice special effects. I just dont have the time to do it and Jeff steps up to the plate, thanks buddy.

Thanks you you guys for listening! I’m looking forward to meeting you all as well.

  5. You did miss out on a lot of fun Elliott but we’ll make up for it at Origins.

As for the editing… Not a great job this time around seeing that we make a few references to the Thoughts on Gaming segment I ended up cutting due to length… Doh!

  6. Hi guys,

I discovered you podcast/website after I picked up a Victory Point Game (We Must Tell the Emperor). Your podcast is very informative, professional and humorous. Thanks for your work. The discussion of greying(my kindergarten students never cease to inform me of my increasingly grey hair) of the hobby struck me. I bought my first game while browsing at a regular toy store in Ithaca, NY when I was ten, “War at Sea” for $5(my dad paid the tax:)) and I picked up several classics growing up at Kay Bee Toys like Squad Leader, PanzerBlitz and Starship Troopers but nowadays I never see a war game in mainline toy/book/big box retail store. Everything that I buy is either direct from the manufacturer or from online retailers. Keep up the good work.

    • Thanks for the kind words, Andy and welcome aboard! You’ll find that we get most of our visitors through word of mouth and our great pals at VPG do a wonderful job of pointing gamers in our direction. As long as folks keep coming by we’ll keep cranking along.

Ah… Good old Kay Bee. I remember Elliott, our friends, and myself used to stop in all the time looking for Avalon Hill games in their discount area. I seem to remember picking up quite a few and want to say that’s where I scored my original copy of Gunslinger!

That brings back lots of great high school gaming memories…

  7. For me it was Toys’R’Us. Back wall, top shelf, corner of Hawthorne and Torrance Blvds … 🙂

  8. Hey Jeff, when are you going to get around to doing that Memoir ’44 review you promised awhile back? It didn’t sound like your impressions were too favorable and I’d like to hear the other side of all the positive reviews this game seems to get. Thanks.

  9. I don’t recall “promising” a review of Memoir ’44, but I’m sure I can get one up in the next month or so. I think it’s been covered to death in all honesty. I can say that I don’t hate the game but it’s certainly not something I pull out to fix my wargaming jones…

I don’t sense an actual WWII flavor when I play and it just seems like a a game and nothing like a simulation.

  10. It’s funny, I got it from my Secret Santa last Christmas, and it was packed with a few expansons, but I haven’t had a chance yet to play. So I can’t judge it at all, yet. I was going to work on my Phineas and Ferb 104 Days of Summer Vacation Board Game review first.

    • It’s not a long play by any stretch and you can get some of the earlier scenarios knocked off in an hour or hour and a half. Of course I’m talking about Memoir and not Phineas and Ferb..
