I’ve heard that Telestrations is a lot of fun, but I haven’t had an opportunity to give it a try.  I finally made it over to the USAopoly booth at Origins on Sunday, and they were sold out!  I know they had a lot of copies there, as I remember walking past the booth a few times and they were stacked all over.  Then they were gone.  Fear not party gamers, it is still available all over the universe.

The game consists of handy dandy notebooks where each player sketches a word or phrase, then passes to the next player who makes a guess as to what it is, then passes to the next player who makes a new sketch based on the guess, and so on.  Eventually you get your own book back and get to see how much your word has been transformed since it left your hands.  You can go from spaghetti to Fred Flintstone.  The game seems like a good time, so I’m looking forward to checking it out.

  1. Lock ‘n Load Publishing ‘s booth was close to Telestrations – looked they were having a great time.

  2. After trying it out Saturday morning, my daughter LOVED the game, and I really liked it, so I knew we would get a copy. As late as about 2:00 there was a pile of at least 15-20 there, so I figured we would wait until the raffle and then buy it if we didn’t win. 30 minutes later they were gone. Fortunately, by 4:00 they were taking names and shipping for free at the convention price. We got ours today.

  3. Interview / press release
Engage officially released at the Origins Game Fair 2011. This is the first game designed by Russ Price and published by Table Tactics. The combination seems to have hit a home run and already two companies, FunSockets & PixoFactor are competing to develop games and apps for all mobile and handheld platforms including iPhone / iPad, Android and Windows 7 Phones as well as social network games for Facebook.
Table Tactics owner Jack Geisler and Designer Russ Price had little down time running demonstrations of Engage at the Origins Game Fair. Some of the people who played Engage were Bart (The Chief) Brunscheen from the Dice Tower & Stephen Conway of TheSpiel.net. Others to stop by the booth were wargame reviewer Joe Steadman and representatives of The Gaming Gang and The Dice Hate Me. Currently Engage is sold by online retailer FairPlayGames & GameFest. That soon could change as Boards & Bits has expressed an interest in picking up Engage. Table Tactics is in negotiation with PS Games Distribution in The Netherlands to handle European distribution.
As posted on The Dice Hate Me “Observing a demo of Engage, by Table Tactics. It was a fascinating diceless system that I’d like to take a closer look at soon.”

  5. Howdy Jack, We’ve got an interview with the designer Russ Price coming soon, and a full review of Engage in the near future. I had a good time playing the partial demo, and Russ’s enthusiasm really gets you excited about the game.

  6. Jack, Jack, Jack, that’s kind of a “spammy” comment. Your post has nothing to do with Telestrations. I understand that you want to get the word out about Engage, but wait until we get the news piece up…

    Geez!

    • Hi Jeff
We had a little write up in a local rag and my intent was to send Elliott the right up.
I miss took leave a reply as sending a note to you folks at the gaming game, not posting.
Once the posting went up I could not delete it.
You may also think about a note that says “email required to post”. I’m not the sharpest knife in the drawer but “Mail (will not be published) (required)” may not be the best wording.
Please feel free to have the site admin delete my posting error.
      Best Regards,
      Jack

  7. I’m the site admin Jack, but no worries about the post. I was just teasing you about the comment. I knew it wasn’t spam. As you can see, Elliott did post a news piece about Engage and you should se a review in the next couple of weeks!
