Hello Jeff,
Really enjoying your daily dope.
I had two or three “Space Gamers” and two or three “The Dragon” mags. They were great. Wish I could find “The Dragon” that had the expansion cards for Divine Right.
Right, Fierce & Terrible has been on my radar for some time. I’ve yet to purchase Against the Odds, but I will purchase this one.
Regarding Against the Odds, I believe Mark Mahaffey is an editor of the magazine now. He is the artist for Right, Fierce and Terrible. I know of Mark through boardgamegeek.com. I think it was his version of Hammer of the Scotts (or was it Crusader Rex) where I first noticed him. He gained a bit of a repuatation, I think, on boardgamegeek, freelanced a couple of jobs, and now I think he is a major cog in Against the Odds. If your looking for suggestions for an interview, allow me to put that in your suggstion box. He might be a good examples of J. Campbell’s famous saying “follow your bliss.” (You may be another good example.)
Boudica is another game that’s been on my radar. Regarding the pronunciation, here is a link to a clip from Battlefield Britan. At about the 8:40 mark, Boudica enters the conversation. He discusses the correct pronunciation of her name and says it at the 9:12 mark or so.

If you don’t happen to be familiar with the BBC series Battlefield Britain, I thik you might enjoy it. Two histories, fahter and son, review battles that have shaped Britain. Stratagies and examined, effects to ordinary people are covered, and what it is like to be in the front of each of the battles is explored. Quite fun in the Rebellion of Boudica episode is the look at what it is like to fight while in a chariot, and how chariots were used. Great stuff.
Love the Tolkien coverage. I laughed out loud in a grocery store while listening to this podcast. Already I can’t remember the guys name.
Looking forward to Against the Odds. I have a few C3i’s (that have games) and enjoy them. I’m trying to walk through and get introduced to the world of fantasy miniatures. Just picked up a copy of No Quarter (Privateer Press). I’m starting to sort through it – and like the mag. It has some fiction, tips for painting, strategy, previews, etc. Fun mag.
Please pardon my typos. I tend to type first, submit and edit later. Will review before submitting next time.
We don’t worry too much about typos in the comments – I tend to have plenty of typos I have to clean up before I publish an article. 🙂
As far as magazines, I like C3i and Line of Fire quite a bit but look at them as more along the lines of “house organs” as most of their content relates to GMT and Lock ‘n Load respectively.
I did have a chance to talk with Andy (I swear I remember it being Andy) at Origins but he wasn’t comfortable doing an audio interview for one of our “extras”. You’d be surprised that’s not unusual as there are some publishers who aren’t keen on interviews. I’ll have to follow up with Mark to see if he’d like to get some additional exposure for ATO.
I’ll have to check our Battlefield Britain as it sounds interesting!
