I ran across a very interesting E-Zine called Thru the Portal and I honestly believe it’s worth a serious look. Presented by Laura and Neil Meyer, TTP is available on a quarterly basis and is a great look at our hobby from a couple (and their contributors) who obviously love gaming. I’ve read through their first three issues and have to say that they are putting together something that easily rivals just about any other ‘Zine out there.

The writing style is a nice mix of friendly neighbors and serious commentary. Or as least as serious as those of us playing games wish it to be. I find the ‘Zine to be a nice perspective from across the pond – as we might say here in the States. The current issue has a very nice, quick piece on Salute ’10 by the way. Hey! Cut me some slack! I’m an aging grognard at heart and I’ll have to tell you the story of what I got for my 15mm ACW collection at one Gen Con auction…

Be sure to stop by Thru the Portal to check out the issues posted so far (I’ll make life easy and provide you with the link to the third issue, which clocks in at 56 pages, right here) and stay tuned for the fourth edition that is going to have coverage of this year’s Essen.

I’m pretty jealous, since I can’t make it to Germany.

I’m sure TTP will cover the bases for us though.

  1. Thanks for the mention and the feedback! As a small indy publication we really do value all the input and links we get from our readers. We welcome suggestions for future content and hope to cover things that you find interesting in future issues.

We promise to do our best at filling our next issue with a good amount for those 'across the pond' that can't make it to Essen in person!
