Author George R. R. Martin has signed a new deal with HBO to continue on with his duties as co-executive producer on the cable series Game of Thrones while also creating and developing other series for the network. Deadline indicates this is a two year deal. While this bodes well for fans of Game of Thrones, and HBO viewers in general since the series has become a flagship for the pay cable giant, this can only mean additional delays to the continued publication of the novels. Readers already know Martin writes at a near glacial pace so these additional responsibilities with HBO could mean we may wait a good long while before we see the Song of Ice and Fire series conclude.
Season three of Game of Thrones premieres March 31st.
