Summary
It says something about a game when its core mechanic is one which I'm not much of a fan of and it turns out I really enjoy the game after multiple plays. The Crew: The Quest for Planet Nine is the sort of game which doesn't immediately jump out at me - even though there's been plenty of hype surrounding the English language edition - especially since I'm not much of a fan of trick taking games. The Crew does bring some new wrinkles to the proceedings as it's a co-op experience as opposed to competitive. While the various missions and overall story gives The Crew a bit of science fiction flavor, overall the main appeal of the missions is the variation of game play. This is a must have for fans of trick taking games and worth a very serious look for gamers like me who might not automatically gravitate toward these mechanics normally.
