I share my thoughts about the eagerly anticipated 4th edition of the Twilight 2000 roleplaying game from Free League Publishing. Is this system a perfect fit for gamers looking for a post-Cold War apocalyptic setting? Or is this reboot of the venerable GDW roleplaying game a complete misfire? You’ll find out!

  1. I played the original and with the right equipment we ran a once a week 6 to 8 hour campaign for 6 months. We had a heavy tank 2 apc’s and some light transport vehicles. The motivation was to secure shelter and food for a short period and the long range goal was to find transport home. There were 7 of us so long campaigns are possible. I played with all military people while stationed in South Korea.

Twilight 2000 4th Edition | Review and Page Through

If you have any interest in the setting then picking up Twilight 2000 is a no brainer. Everything about the production quality is top notch and the box is packed with gaming material. I will say that I've got some worries that the focus is more toward sandbox gameplay as opposed to plotted adventures; personally, I don't see longer campaigns really coming together with that sort of gameplay. That was an issue with the original edition too. Overall though this is a great pickup for fans of modern era, gritty, military action.
