Tonight I’m bringing you another a first time entry to the Spooktacular with an episode of Suspense near the end of it’s long run. One aspect of a successful radio program was the sound engineers. With great sound effects, a listener could easily be drawn in while poor effects would leave the audience scratching their heads or, worse yet, chuckling in disbelief. Suspense was always at the top of its game with sound and won numerous listener awards. Personally, I think tonight’s entry uses sound most effectively to creep you out.
So turn out the lights, sit back, and give a listen to Bells on Suspense as it aired on August 6th, 1961.
