We’re going to take the Spooktacular in an unusual direction tonight and share a program which certainly wasn’t known for horror tales; what it was known for was adapting popular Broadway plays and Hollywood films to radio. Of course, I’m talking about The Lux Radio Theater. The Radio Theater also assembled top notch talent (many times the very stars of the plays and films being adapted) for their productions. This episode tonight is a bit of a black swan as far as the Radio Theater because it’s an adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier story The Birds. Yes… The very tale Alfred Hitchcock would direct a decade later.
Sit back, turn out the lights, and give a listen to The Birds on The Lux Radio Theater as it aired on July 20th, 1953.
