Terraforming Mars: Turmoil Smashes Kickstarter Goal in First Hours

The fifth, and possibly final, expansion for the hit Stronghold Games title Terraforming Mars launched on Kickstarter yesterday and easily shattered its funding goal. Terraforming Mars: Turmoil will bring new wrinkles to gameplay by adding more politics and a new Global Event system. Plus the expansion also includes dual layer player boards. The Turmoil expansion is for one to five players, ages 12+, and plays in around two hours. Right now the project is over 2200% funded and you can reserve a copy of the expansion for a pledge of $34.00 through May 2nd.

We went all out to making the fifth expansion for Terraforming Mars. It’s the biggest, most involved, and strategic addition to the game! And now it is on Kickstarter.

You’ll see a whole new side of the planet with the inclusion of new corporations, projects, and Global Events – a new card type that affects each player and gives them something to plan for. As the name Turmoil suggests, political mechanics let you manipulate Martian politicians and control the incentives that they dole out.

Players will vie for control of the Terraforming Committee assigning delegates to nominate Party Leaders, and ultimately electing the Chairperson. Become the Party Leader and/or the Chairperson and receive increased benefits when a Global Event triggers.
