Cryptozoic COO Scott Gaeta lays out the basics. “It breaks the fourth wall. The premise behind the game is that it’s an ancient game that vampires have been playing for thousands of years, and a human stole a copy of the game, brought it to Cryptozoic, and we’re publishing it. The cards in the game don’t have pictures of Bill and Sooki on them; they actually have ancient art from vampire lore. It’s a game they’ve been playing for thousands of years and now we’re publishing it. So vampires aren’t too happy about it.”
From Cryptozoic:
Based on the HBO series True Blood, Night Eternal is a game that has existed for thousands of years as a favorite among the vampires. In ancient times, immortal vampires played games with people’s lives and with real blood stakes. Now in card game form, no real blood will be spilled, but the strategy, tactics, and power-plays are still abound. Night Eternal is a competitive card game of intrigue, power-plays and betrayal where vampires jockey for power, position and ultimate control of the rival factions: The Authority and The Monarchy.
