Amazon Green Lights ‘Man in The High Castle’ Season Three

The Man in The High Castle Season Two Poster (Amazon Studios)Variety is reporting Amazon Studios has greenlit a third season of the hit alternate history/science fiction series The Man in The High Castle. If you aren’t familiar with the show, or the Phillip K. Dick novel which inspired it, the setting is that of the early 1960s in a world in which the Axis won WWII. All of the action of the first season took place in the United States (partitioned between the Japanese and Germans) but the second season expanded the locales to include Berlin as well.

The initial season of The Man is The High Castle set records for viewership for an original scripted Amazon series. The recently released second season, which arrived for streaming this past December 16th, shattered those records so it’s no surprise Amazon is fully committed to another ten episodes. We should expect the new season to arrive sometime in December of this year.

Frank Spotnitz, who developed the series and stepped down as showrunner midway through the production of the second season, will remain as an executive producer along with Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Richard Heus, Isa Dick Hackett and Daniel Percival. Eric Overmyer will serve as showrunner and executive producer for season three.

The Man in the High Castle stars Alexa Davalos, Rupert Evans, Luke Kleintank, DJ Qualls, Joel De La Fuente, Brennan Brown, Bella Heathcote and Callum Keith Rennie, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Rufus Sewell. The series is streamed exclusively to Amazon Prime members.
