HBO to Film Multiple ‘Game of Thrones’ Endings to Prevent Leaks

Game of Thrones Jon and Daenerys (HBO)It’s more and more likely we’ll have to wait until 2019 for the final season of Game of Thrones but at least no one will spoil the conclusion ahead of time. Following in the footsteps of popular shows such as Breaking Bad and The Sopranos, HBO Programming President Casey Bloys revealed to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania’s newspaper, The Morning Call, the network plans to shoot multiple endings to the series. This will certainly throw a wrench into anyone’s plans, including cast and crew, to dish the dirt on the finale early.

“I know in Game of Thrones, the ending, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that nobody really knows what happens,” said Bloys. “You have to do that on a long show. Because when you’re shooting something, people know. So, they’re going to shoot multiple versions so that there’s no real definitive answer until the end.”

The Hollywood Reporter has already indicated production on GoT’s season eight will begin in October and run through August of next year. While there are only six episodes it would be difficult to rush them for the end of 2018. Obviously, special effects and post production should push the final season’s premiere to sometime in 2019.
