A new RPG inspired web series is on the horizon from the folks behind 2013’s well received One Hit Die. Legend of the Lich Lord continues the series with a skewed approach to the traditional (and well worn) “group of heroes saves the world” sword and sorcery trope.
Here’s the press release and trailer:
“Legend of the Lich Lord,” will launch as a 10-part web series beginning October 21st, 2015. The new series had its world premiere at the Calgary International Film Festival, with multiple sold-out screenings.
“If a D&D character tries to break the fourth wall, does the wall get a saving throw?”
– John Tebbutt, FFWD
“Legend of Lich Lord” is continuation of the award-winning web-series One Hit Die, a comedic “sword & sorcery” meta-mockumentary. The series continues the raucous misadventures of an offbeat band of rookie adventurers on a quest to save the world from total annihilation.
Filmed on location in Calgary, “We shoot multiple cameras which allows the actors to improvise and make the character their own,” says Spencer Estabrooks, Writer and Director. The talented cast includes Julie Orton, Andrew Long, Mikeala Cochrane, and AMC’s Hell on Wheels star, Phil Burke.
Producer Emily Renner Wallace, adds that, “Legends of the Lich Lord cleverly combines a continuous story arch and episodic cliff-hangers to create a film experience that’s satisfying for both big screen and little screen audiences.”
Beginning October 21st, the ten episode series will premiere for free on TELUS Optik TV On Demand. Simultaneously, the first episode will be released on YouTube with a new episode available every day.
