Pulp Hummock Press recently launched a Kickstarter project to bring the second volume of Gods of the Forbidden North to the masses. The book continues the massive three part Old School Essentials fantasy roleplaying campaign. The project funded in its first few minutes and you can reserve a copy of the 350+ page hardcover (with digital files) for a pledge of $49.00 or get just the digital files for a $19.00 pledge through March 28th. Gods of the Forbidden North is a massive, three-volume mega-adventure series by Pulp Hummock Press. The trilogy details a campaign setting, a wilderness hex-crawl, a sprawling underworld with dozens of connecting surface tunnels, and most importantly, an old-school megadungeon: the dreaded Castle Thar-Gannon.
The second part of this mega-adventure is designed for a 5th level party of 6-8 heroic player characters. Adventurers should reach a minimum of 9th level by the book’s conclusion, although most parties will hit 10th-11th level if all encounters are exhausted. GotFN: Volume 2 details the underworld below the continent’s surface which has a total of 7 mid-level to high-level dungeons. Think of the underworld setting as a second wilderness area lying underneath the arctic surface. Nearly 30 connection points exist between both maps, and a party of adventurers has total freedom to move back and forth between the surface and the underworld as they explore the Forbidden North.
The trilogy is written for the Old-School Essentials: Advanced Fantasy tabletop role-playing game by Necrotic Gnome, which is a popular retroclone of Tom Moldvay’s B/X D&D with a few added elements sprinkled in from AD&D 1E.
With little conversion effort, this mega-adventure could easily be adapted to any sufficiently old-school fantasy RPG system, such as Swords & Wizardry, Shadowdark, Hyperborea, OSRIC, or Basic Fantasy RPG.
