About the game:

If you’ve been looking to dip your toe into the (shade)glassy waters of Warhammer Underworlds, the new Starter Set, which is up for pre-order, is the way to do it. Designed from the ground up to be the easiest, most accessible way to get involved, it includes everything you need to get started. Let’s take a peek at what’s in the box and discover why it’s great for getting into the game.

In Warhammer Underworlds, you take command of a warband of brave warriors, wizards, or even monsters, using your wit and skill to earn glory and ultimately defeat your opponent. This set contains two warbands, cast in pre-coloured plastic, which can be assembled in a matter of minutes without the need for glue – so you’ll be ready to play in next to no time.

First up is the Storm of Celestus, representing three mighty warriors of the Stormcast Eternals and their loyal Gryph-hound. They’re a hard-hitting flex control warband, able to dominate the battlefield by holding objectives while punishing enemy fighters with their formidable ranged weapons.

Their opponents in the Starter Set are Drepur’s Wraithcreepers, formed of four Nighthaunt servants of Nagash. They fight best as an aggro warband, as they possess lots of ways to inflict damage upon their enemies and can use their spectral nature to drift through terrain and even enemy fighters.

This 36-page booklet has been specially created to help you learn the basics of the game. One of the key differences between this and the complete rulebook is that it keeps the focus on the core gameplay, enabling you to get stuck in Warhammer Underworlds: Starter Set (Games Workshop)and krumping each other’s warbands as quickly as possible!

One of the more complex aspects of playing Warhammer Underworlds is deckbuilding. However, the contents of this set are geared towards easy play. As such, it features two hand-picked card decks – one for each warband – that provide you with a balanced hand for both the Storm of Celestus and Drepur’s Wraithcreepers. This frees you up from having to learn how to build competitive card decks for your warbands and ensures you can get straight into the action.

Once you’ve mastered each warband and the pre-built decks they use, you can expand your Warhammer Underworlds experience by introducing the deckbuilding element to the games with the Essential Cards Pack.

To play Warhammer Underworlds, you need a suitable battleground over which your rival warbands can fight for dominion. The Starter Set includes two double-sided game boards, depicting key locations that can be contested – the Cursed Oubliette, Soul Refractor, Mirror Well, and Shyishian Stardial.

Finally, in the set, you’ll find a total of 90 pop-out card tokens, as well as eight Warhammer Underworlds dice for resolving your attacks. The tokens will help you keep track of all the variables that happen over the course of the game – including the number of wounds your fighters have suffered and how much glory you’ve won.

The Warhammer Underworlds: Starter Set really has got everything you need to start playing the game within minutes of opening the box! If you’ve yet to try this fast, fun, and furious skirmish game, be sure to pre-order the Starter Set and give it a go.
