Every so often you just run across something that’s pretty irresistible in it’s own right. So let me introduce you to Stompadon, a plush toy and accompanying story which has launched on Kickstarter as the creation seems to have taken on a life of it’s own after performance artist Kelsey Wailes took part in a 25 minute contest called Super Art Fight. From just sketch murals grew this Stompadon movement which has now led to your chance to get you hands on this truly adorable dinosaur-ish little creature as well as a children’s book penned by Stompadon’s dad.
The funding project only has nine days left (and there’s a long way to go cash-wise) so time is short to bring Stompadon to life – or plush I guess I should say…
About the project:
BLARGH! Stompadon stomps his way into your heart with this original plush toy design and adorable story for kids of all ages.
Kelsey Wailes is the artist and creator behind Stompadon. To make this Kickstarter run, she’s formed a team. A team with a special set of skills. Jamie Noguchi, the creator of Puppy Cow, is the Plush Specialist. Darren J. Gendron, part of the team that created The Monster Alphabet and Póstumo, is the Kicking Expert. And Mr. T is not returning our calls to be our Exclusive Fool Pitier.
The Stompadon Kickstarter is to make a children’s book about Stompadon and his adventures in protecting his family from the scary Grumpasaurus, and will have a super soft 8″ plushie to go with it if it gets funded. Stompadon is a great little story for children of all ages, and as he protects his family and friends in the story, as a plushie he will protect you from monsters too.
Here’s the video below although I have to say the direction to promote the project probably wouldn’t have been one I would have taken, as it’s fairly bizarre, but what do I know? I’m not an artist…
