The folks behind one of my favorite games (VivaJava) Dice Hate Me Games has a new title up for crowd funding on Kickstarter. In Brew Crafters, two to five players take the reins of various small breweries looking to produce the hippest, tastiest beer. The game will blend Euro mechanics with an American style of gameplay. The project has already reached it’s $30K funding goal and there’s still plenty of time to get on board.
From Dice Hate Me:
It’s a time of regrowth in the old urban center, and the hippest and best beer crafters have gathered both hops and hopes in building the best brewery in the city. It won’t be an easy task, as players compete for precious ingredients such as malt, yeast, fruit and spices in the local markets, all while managing and optimizing their growing bottling empires.
In Brew Crafters, players assume management of a local craft brewery, working hard to manage resources, use their workers wisely, and develop their brewing line to create the best local brews. Players can perform research into different beer styles, brewing recipes such as Smoked Porter, Pumpkin Ale, and Coffee Stout, crafting their own unique brewing strategy along the way.
Brew Crafters honors the tradition of classic Euro-style board games, but at its heart beats a unique brewery processing system that must be constantly improved, monitored, and manned in order to keep the beloved beverages rolling off the line. Each brewery has access to a variety of equipment upgrades, farms, markets, and a plethora of specialty workers, ensuring a high level of replayability and strategic avenues. In addition, each player is studiously working to be first to develop several rotating gold-label specialty recipes that will earn them a better reputation at the end of year three when the best local brewer will be honored.
I’m a newbie in tabletop board games and I think this new game sounds great! It looks to be a great way to introduce noobs like myself by starting with a beer-themed game. I mean, who doesn’t like beer?! It’s great to see so many Kickstarter funds for tabletop board and card games. Just recently I found one on Kickstarter about custom audio for tabletop games. Pretty cool!
I’m interested in the new title as well. I have to say I don’t cover everything hitting Kickstarter since the platform is still hit or miss as far as the games up for funding. Plus, too many reviewers are receiving payment for giving thumbs up to preproduction prototypes without ever actually seeing close to the finished product or, dare I say, actually playing the game; not something I want to even touch. I will say, however, if Beer Crafters is anywhere close to the quality of VivaJava then it’ll be a hit!
Nope, not a paid endorsement, just an observation based on what VJ had to offer. Honestly, now that the cross country move is done and I’m once again accepting titles for review I should reach out to DHMG and see if they’d be interested in having me look at any of their other releases. 🙂
