Image Comics for July 9th, 2014
Obviously the big title from Image is the latest issue of The Walking Dead but there’s also the launches of Death Vigil and Spread to pique your interest this week.

More Judge Dredd and Star Trek on the agenda from IDW Publishing, as well as other titles, for you to give a serious peek.
Loads to get your hands on from Dynamite this week including the launch of Chastity, as well as the second issue of Blood Queen and Chaos among the offerings.
A quieter release week than normal from Dark Horse following the holiday weekend but still plenty to watch for including Abe Sapien, Eerie Comics, and Star Wars.
While the newspaper strips obviously didn’t contain William Moulton Marston’s fixation and focus on bondage and submission as in the early comics, the 1940s saw Wonder
Savage Hulk launches this week (with an awesome Alex Ross variant) and Marvel has plenty of other titles in the offering with the latest Amazing Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, Original Sin, and Original Sins hitting.
The very cool bombshells variants continue to arrive from DC Comics alongside a great slate of action packed titles including Batman, Catwoman, Superman, and Justice League Dark hitting stands this week.
A larger output than usual from Zenescope with four issues so fans of the Grimm Fairy Tales series should be pleased as the latest GFTP Godstorm Hercules Payne, GFTP Helsing, GFTP Wonderland, and GFTP Wonderland: Clash of Queens arrive on the scene.
A couple issues hitting from Valiant this week with the conclusion of Shadowman: End Times and the latest edition of fan favorite X-O Manowar arriving.
Image has a slew of their most popular titles hitting this week with standouts Saga, Invincible, and Chew leading the pack arriving on your FLCS shelves.
Loads to keep you entertained from IDW this week including the latest 24, X-Files: Season 10, Mars Attacks: First Born, and let’s not forget My Little Pony Friendship is Magic.
Fans of variants will have plenty to choose from this week from Dynamite, with Solar Man of the Atom, Mark Waid’s Green Hornet, Turok Dinosaur Hunter, Flash Gordon and Dejah of Mars all receiving multiple covers. Personally, I like the classic look of the cover for Green Hornet’s finale.
The Goon makes his return (albeit in a one shot) after a hiatus with One for the Road while Dream Thief: Escape launches and Vandroid and Serenity: Leave on the Wind conclude this week from Dark Horse Comics.
Back in the day the highlight for many newspaper readers was the Sunday comics section and millions across the U.S. turned to the four color strips as a way to escape the ever increasing horrors found on the front pages of the 1930s and 1940s.
Sometimes I think if Cormac McCarthy penned comics those books would read a lot like Matt and Shawn Fillbach’s non-Star Wars work. Ok… Maybe McCarthy wouldn’t delve into something like the Fillbach’s Tales of the S.S. Chunky Star, since that’s aimed at kids, but much of the Fillbach’s other recent work does possess a serious McCarthy vibe; heavy on imagery and tone while including great stretches with minimal dialogue.
