I’m not sure if this was common knowledge, but during our conversation with Charlie Krank of Chaosium Games at this year’s Gen Con, we learned that there will be a brand new Call of Cthulhu 7th Edition to be released in 2012. The classic RPG is alive and well and we’re excited to see what new horrors investigators will face in H. P. Lovecraft’s universe! This should be a reworking and update of the rules system as opposed to a complete revamp.
I talk with Ivan Van Norman from Hunters Books about the zombie apocalypse simulation RPG, Outbreak: Undead. Yes, it’s true your zombie survival plan will fail! But don’t worry, I’m sure mine will fail too…
Bob Carty, VP of Sales and Marketing for Mayfair Games, joins Elliott and I for a few laughs and a look at the latest releases and upcoming titles. We also delve into a bit of the history of Mayfair that some of our listeners may not be familiar with.
At Gen Con we learned that Fantasy Flight Games will be releasing Descent: Journeys in the Dark Second Edition come fourth quarter 2011. There will even be a separate conversion kit which will allow owners of the original edition to convert their game for an all new and updated experience without having to purchase the entire game once again.
Elliott and I sit down with Shelly Mazzanoble, Brand Manager of Dungeons and Dragons from Wizards of the Coast. Shelly shares with us a lot of exciting details about the launch of the Neverwinter for the venerable RPG.
Listen in as I detail my ignorance of all things D&D from the last 20 years…
Elliott and I had the opportunity to speak with Charlie Krank from one of our favorite companies of all time: Chaosium Games, publishers of Call of Cthulhu. Give a listen as we talk about the 30th Anniversary of CofC!
Uwe Eickert of Academy Games takes time to talk with Jeff about the Conflict of Heroes series, upcoming titles 1812 – The Invasion of Canada and Bloody Crossroads: The Battle of Gettysburg Day One, as well as the latest release, Strike of the Eagle.
Jeff chats with Eloy Lasanta, the mastermind behind Third Eye Games, on day one of Gen Con 2011. The discussion focuses on the new RPG Part-Time Gods, other TEG RPGs titles, as well as PDF piracy.
You can certainly tell Eloy is fun to talk to!
Jeff spends time talking with Luke Warren of North Star Games just minutes after the exhibit hall doors open for the first time at Gen Con 2011. Luke talks about the company’s latest release, Crappy Birthday, and more!
Moving quickly to take advantage of the licensing partnership with Lucasfilm Ltd., Fantasy Flight Games has announced the upcoming Star Wars: The Card Game. The game will be co-operative, with up to four players (no doubt two copies of the title will be needed to provide enough cards for more than two players) representing the rebels as they take on the Imperial forces. New missions packs, or expansions, should be planned for monthly releases. The card game will ship with three missions to get your Star Wars juices flowing!
Z-Man Games has announced reprints of Pandemic and Pandemic: On the Brink will be hitting shelves at your friendly local game store this September. One one hand this is good news seeing both titles have been difficult for some gamers to find while, on the other, there is a need to take the price increase into account. Pandemic will retail for $39.99 and On the Brink is $34.99. These are increases of five dollars from the original MSRP. Not a big bump to be sure but the new pricing does need to be mentioned.
Someone better get ready to catch Elliott when he faints because Fantasy Flight Games has announced a surprise for Gen Con attendees: a previously undisclosed Mansions of Madness expansion. The expansion is entitled The Silver Tablet and there isn’t much info to be gathered just yet but we do know the expansion will be available for sale at the convention and will make it’s way to stores soon after. Game Salute has an image of the expansion box if you’d like to take a quick peek.
