As 2014 has seen DC Comics publish themed variants each month (Scribblenauts, Robot Chicken, and steampunk to date) an article in today’s USA Today reveals May will see Batman ’66 inspired variants – cool in their own right – but more interestingly June will feature Bombshell pin up style variants. These covers will feature female characters inspired by not only the Bombshell line of collectable DC figures but also vintage 1940s and 1950s good girl and magazine art. I especially love the Wonder Woman preview below.
“I’m so proud of the work we’ve accomplished on the Bombshell line and very excited to see them become part of the cover series,” Bombshell designer Ant Lucia tells USA Today. “It has been a privilege to work with the team at DC Collectibles and watch these develop.”
Lucia will oversee the 20 covers for the following issues:
- Action Comics #32
- Detective Comics #32
- Green Lantern #32
- Batgirl #32
- Batman #32
