McFarlane Toys has revealed plans for a trio of 7″ figures beginning this Fall and they’re a double dip of Jim Henson film goodness. First up is David Bowie as Jareth, the Goblin King from Labyrinth, set for a November release to be followed by The Dark Crystal’s Jen and Kira in Spring 2018. The Goblin King carries an MSRP of $19.99 (available for pre-order now) and very possibly will be the first in a proposed line of Labyrinth characters since production of a new film begins later this year. As for Jen and Kira, no word yet on pricing or if they will be sold separately or in a set. Indications lead one to believe there will be more figures in a line for The Dark Crystal as well since Netflix has already optioned a prequel series, The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance.
From Licensing.biz:
McFarlane Toys has announced plans for a new line of figures based on classic films The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth.
The upcoming toys will include a 7-inch figure of Labyrinth’s Jareth the Goblin King, and for The Dark Crystal, fans can look forward to figures of Jen and Kira. Each figure will be highly detailed and come fully articulated to recreate iconic movie scenes. These figures will also debut in new window box collector packaging and will come with Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal branded detailed bases.
“The beautifully created figures from the talented team at McFarlane Toys will bring to life these iconic characters and allow our fans to show their passion and enthusiasm for these beloved fantasy productions,” said Nicole Goldman, executive vice president, Marketing/PR and Education Initiatives for The Jim Henson Company.
“Jim Henson was one of the most visually creative minds, and these incredible movies are just the tip of the iceberg,” said Todd McFarlane, owner and CEO of McFarlane Toys. “We pride ourselves on our creativity and attention to detail, and to be able to make figures of these iconic characters is something pretty special.”
The Labyrinth figures will hit shelves in November whilst The Dark Crystal line is slated for Spring 2018.
