Undead Fortune: A Hair-Raising Venture Into the Frantic Tombs of the Not-So-Dead

From gladiators and cowboys to Anubis to now dead, mummified, and skeletal pharaohs, it can be said that Hacksaw Gaming has a knack for historical settings.

In this new Undead Fortune slots game, the player is met with astonishingly aesthetic designs that depict both the living and unliving alike. Looking at their portfolio, this is one of the more grim slots they’ve come up with, with a mesmerizing snake slithering over you as if it was demanding respect with its dominant stare and sharp fangs the entire time you play.

And as the action heats up and the mummies and skeletons pull their heads out of their tombs, slashing away at your very being, the slots are full of twisted imagery. Compared to Hand of Anubis, it is quite colorful and bright in a stimulating and enjoyable way, keeping you engaged all throughout. Just make sure some to have some garlic handy or whatever it is that happens to repel the undead these days.

Base game and features overview

Undead Fortune is set on a 5×4 grid with a minimum bet being $0.10 and the maximum being $100, featuring walking and expanding wilds, bonus games, respins and much more. It boasts a very high RTP of 96.26% and a 10.000x max multiplier, making the gameplay riveting and the victories satisfying.

It features a variety of different symbols, some connected to Egyptian mythology and others typical of slots and other games. In order from highest paying to lowest paying, they are: Anubis, Pharaoh, Bastet and Mummy, all animated with vivid character designs. In the lower paying tier, we have the usual Ace, King, Queen, Jack and Ten.

The game, although largely inspired by its predecessors Hand of Anubis and Gladiator Legends, adds its own unique flavor to the gameplay elements, all while retaining classic Hacksaw features such as DuelReels and adding new thrilling and flashy features like walking duels, tomb bonus rounds and curse bonus rounds. In essence, you form a winning combo when 3 or more identical symbols connect from the left to the right.

Bonus Minigames

As previously seen in Hacksaw Gaming slots titles, Undead Fortune features not just one, but two bonus games – The Curse and The Tomb.

The Curse

Scoring 3 Curse scatters on the 1st, 3rd and 5th reel will trigger The Curse bonus minigame. When this happens, the game will reward you with 10 free spins with a higher chance to score Walk VS and Expand VS symbols.

The Tomb

Scoring 3 Tomb scatters on the 1st, 3rd and 5th reel in a game, will trigger The Tomb bonus minigame. When this is initiated, the reels will be stacked with Tomb VS, Epic VS, Unlock, Golden unlock symbols as well as non-paying symbols.

This game adds another layer of cutting edge tingling gameplay as the special locking reels are hit with a multiplier above each of them. If you defeat the monster, the duel multiplier will be added to the multiplier on the reel. However if you lose the battle against the undead beasts, the reel will shut and lock.

The verdict

While it may not have made as much of an initial splash as Hand of Anubis, nor is it as pessimistic and desolate in it’s visual presentation, Undead Fortune certainly brings a lot to the table with a style so morbid it contrasts most of their work. All the while, it manages to retain classic gameplay elements with reel multipliers that are largely reminiscent of Chaos Crew and duels that are nostalgic of Wanted Dead or a Wild.

It is Hacksaw at their most fundamental and it is clear that they are masters at refreshing familiar old experiences and making them feel exciting yet again, as if it were the first time you hit that roll, trembling in anticipation.
