Dragons Beyond is a zero edition (0e) retroclone based on 1973 playtest materials that have been recovered. Much of this material did not make it into the first publication of the world’s oldest fantasy RPG.
What would it have been like if fantasy RPGs had started with a slightly different origin point? Domain play and patronage were concepts firmly embedded in these lost rules. Dragons Beyond revives the voices of the gaming pioneers in the Twin Cities. Better yet, it is a complete ruleset – rounding out things that were only hinted at, implied, or later abandoned.
Dragons Beyond can provide endless hours of enjoyment spent adventuring in the Upper and Underworld. Both Solo Players and Referees will find that there is sufficient material to run adventures with minimal prep time and minimal crunch.
