I provide my thoughts about the WWI/folk horror mashup A War Transformed: WWI on the Doggerland Front from Osprey Games. The game is a tactical level miniatures rules set featuring the aftermath of the return of old, pagan gods bringing with them magic rituals and plenty of monsters.
SUMMARY
While I certainly feel the setting of A War Transformed: WWI on the Doggerland Front is mighty interesting and quite unique (I'd love to see a TTRPG in this setting) the combat rules
strike me as more than likely turning the game into a slog at the table. It's also disappointing we see no images of miniatures, or any of the unique units, to inspire your painting or kit
bashing. Plus, like a great many Osprey Games releases, there's no guarantee that this isn't just another one-and-done system from the publisher. I think with a few tweaks to the core
combat mechanics, especially the close combat, to speed things up I would certainly have a stronger recommendation.
