Campaign Trail (Cosmic Wombat Games)I have to say this election cycle I’ve been inundated with pleas to share this or that political Kickstarter project with our visitors. Truthfully most came across as utter dreck, and I’m not one to share KS projects just for the sake of posting news, yet there’s one which looks mighty interesting and has my interest peaked. Campaign Trail, from Cosmic Wombat Games, mixes multi-function cards and area control to create a realistic (sans the muckraking and twitter wars) simulation of the race to the White House.

Can you unseat the incumbent through clever strategy and smart advertising spending? Or will the voters be chanting “Four more years!” on election day? Up to six players will vie for the right to sit in the Oval Office. Or, um, the Vice President’ office down the hall…

Campaign Trail has recently passed the halfway point for funding and continues to run through June 2nd. You can reserve a copy in one of two flavors: The standard game for $49.00 or the deluxe edition for $69.00.

Campaign Trail Components (Cosmic Wombat Games)From Cosmic Wombat:

Campaign Trail is a card driven action game set in the world of modern electoral politics. You are a candidate for president, with a war chest to spend and a cadre of supporters and registered voters all willing to help you gain the electoral votes necessary to get to the White House!

During our hundreds of playtests, the players have commented on the following aspects as items they enjoyed the most:

  • The multi-use cards create many excellent decision possibilities
  • You know exactly who is leading at all times due to the real time electoral vote tracker
  • Each unique candidate ability opens up new areas of strategy
  • The design that takes partisan politics out and gives a fun, enriching experience
