A fast and furious poker style game is arriving this week from Cryptozoic Entertainment. Poker Assault calls for two to four players to match up in traditional card game action with a twist. The game is slated for stores on November 9th and carries an MSRP of $19.99.
From Cryptozoic:
Cryptozoic Entertainment, leading creator of board games, trading cards, and collectibles, announced this week’s release of Poker Assault. The card game transforms poker into an easy-to-learn, 2-4 player game of combat in which players join factions and craft poker hands that the others must try to defend against.
In Poker Assault, each player chooses to join one of four factions: the Wolf Pack, Vampire Court, Rocket Patrol, or Invaders. Each of these groups has its own 52-card poker deck with stylish character art that adheres to the theme. When a player succeeds in making a poker hand, he or she makes an “Assault.” The others players try to Defend against this Assault by trying to match (regardless of suit) or exceed (if the same suit) the rank of the individual cards. For every card they fail to Defend, the opposing players take damage, losing Poker Chips. If a player runs out of Poker Chips, he or she loses. The game adds another twist with cards that have special abilities in each deck, as well as formidable Power Cards that players can acquire if they make certain hands. Utilizing these cards can open up new strategies that can be the key to victory.
