A new title in the Valeria series of games is making its way into store next month from Daily Magic Games. In Guild Academies of Valeria, players will aim to grow their academies in power and influence through their students and monuments. The game is for one to four players, ages 14+, plays in around 90 to 120 minutes, and will carry an MSRP of $60.00 when it lands in stores in December.

About the game:

You’ve waged war and tended crops; killed for coin and received visions from the holy martyr, Aquila; you’ve mastered the principals of every guild and devoted your life to Valeria. But you must now plan to foster the next generation of hard working citizens and skilled protégés—you must create the greatest of the Guild Academies of Valeria!

Guild Academies of Valeria takes place over a series of rounds and phases. In the Recruitment Phase, you will send stewards to the city docks to draft students (dice), academy tiles, and professors. In the Education Phase, you will assign students and professors to your growing academy to advance their knowledge. In the Questing Phase, you will send graduates on assignments that need their particular traits. While all of this is going on, you’ll also be building monuments within your academy for powers, seeking favors to increase your abilities, and courting the influence of key members of the 20-strong city council. Their help and influence will mean everything when they judge your completed academy.

GAOV uses action selection, dice drafting and dice manipulation (Students), tile drafting, resource management and engine building (Academies), contract fulfillment (Quests), and a unique system where players choose which game aspects they want to score (Council Ministers) to bring a new aspect of the Valeria Universe to life.
