I sit down to share my thoughts about the core set for Dragonbane, the new English language edition of the classic Swedish roleplaying game Drakar och Demoner, from Free League Publishing. This box set includes the rule book, adventure book, figure flats, maps, pregenerated characters,  dice, and more.

SUMMARY

Dragonbane is certainly a fun looking and relatively rules light take on fantasy roleplaying. The box is jammed with gaming goodness and the included adventure campaign has a really nice old school Renaissance vibe to the proceedings. I do wish that this had been released in a more traditional 300+ page hardcover format since the details on the game world are pretty light and the Game Master portion of the rule book is rather nonexistent. I'd also shy away from recommending Dragonbane as anyone's first RPG since it's designed with the expectation the reader is familiar with the hobby. While I think this is a great release, I'm disappointed some aspects of the game and its setting aren't delved into deeper.
