I discuss the first of nine adventures recently released for Dungeon Crawl Classics Dying Earth, from Goodman Games, Pilgrims of the Black Obelisk. DCC Dying Earth Pilgrims of the Black Obelisk Review

SUMMARY

Pilgrims of the Black Obelisk has a nice Vancian vibe throughout and is a very solid adventure. The adventure is a funnel so expect quite a lot of character casualties. I would no doubt add a couple of encounters which benefit the players as just about everything thrown at them in the adventure has a bad outcome for the pilgrims. There are a couple of set pieces which can turn out very badly if the players make a particular choice and I'd certainly telegraph the danger a wee bit rather than forcing the players to make a decision without much forethought. All in all a very solid adventure for DCC Dying Earth and one I can highly recommend.
