Dungeons & Dragons Events at Origins

Wizards of the Coast will be at Origins Game Fair at the end of the month and have planned some exciting events, including a playtest of D&D Next, the 5th edition of D&D now in development. Here’s what they have planned:

Sneak Peek of Dungeon Command

Time: 1 PM – 3 PM, Friday and Saturday
Location: Regency Foyer, Hyatt Hotel

Wizards of the Coast’s new miniatures skirmish game, Dungeon Command, doesn’t release until this summer, but you can get a sneak peek of the game at Origins. Join the games designers, Peter Lee and Chris Dupuis, to watch or play the game.

Playtest Special: D&D Next

Length: 4 hours
Location: Regency Ballroom, 3rd floor Hyatt Hotel

4 tables each time slot:
Thursday: 8:00 am / 1 pm / 7 pm
Friday: 8:00 am / 1 pm / 7 pm
Saturday: 8:00 am / 1 pm / 7 pm

Join in a public playtest of the next iteration of the Dungeons & Dragons game at Origins. Play in an adventure with characters provided, and give us your feedback to help guide the future of the D&D game! Players of any edition of the game are welcome to participate. Ticketing will be available in the Origins registration system. All participants are required to agree to playtesting terms in order to participate.

The next iteration of Dungeons & Dragons is on its way! Join D&D Senior Manager Mike Mearls and designer Robert Schwalb in a Q&A about the next D&D, and how the public playtest is using fan feedback to help shape the future of the game.

Special Guests:
Mike Mearls is the Senior Manager for Dungeons & Dragons R&D. Some of his past credits include Player’s Handbook 3, Monster Manual 3, books in the Dungeons & Dragons Essentials line, as well as the Castle Ravenloft board game. He is currently involved in the design and development of the next iteration of D&D.

Peter Lee is a Tabletop Game Designer who has worked on a multitude of Dungeons & Dragons games, including Wizards of the Coast’s new Dungeon Command Miniatures Skirmish game. His past credits include D&D Miniatures, D&D Dungeon Tiles, Lords of Waterdeep, The Legend of Drizzt, as well as the other Adventure System games.

Chris Dupuis is a traveling bard who recently found himself in the Pacific Northwest with his wife and 2 cats. When he’s not spinning tales about the majestic mountains, he’s rolling dice as a Tabletop Game Designer for Wizards of the Coast. Robert Schwalb is an award-winning game designer who has contributed design or developed over one hundred roleplaying game titles for Dungeons & Dragons, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, A Song of Ice and Fire RPG, Star Wars RPG, and the d20 System.
