Evo Evolves…

Asmodee is producing a brand new revamped version of Evo which is rumored to be coming out this August.  The cartoony artwork is gone, replaced with a much more realistic stylized look.  You can now play a two player game, which was not available in previous editions, plus there will now be two double sided boards which will be selected depending on the number of players in Small World fashion.

The most noticeable change will be the new dino-meeples included in the game.  Wooden disks are gone and replaced with these dino-meeples.  No plastic for Asmodee, it causes pollution and prices fluctuate with the price of petroleum.

If you don’t know Evo, here’s the all new description from Asmodee:

At the dawn of time, the nomads of the island of Krah wandered the ancient land with their now-extinct companions. Making homes in inhospitable and dangerous lands, and in the midst of an unstable climate, the nomads of Krah lived in fear. Talented scientists worked hard to save the herds, knowing that genetic modifications could extend the lives of the dinosaur companions –but for how long?

In EVO, you’ll lead your tribe of nomads and mighty beasts through an ever-changing and deadly land, competing with your opponents to improve your dinosaurs in a variety of useful ways. You’ll bid to grab the best genetic stock and mutate your creatures to survive hostile climates, hatch more eggs, or defend against enemy attack. But be careful – expend too much effort to modify your dinosaurs, and you’ll wind up with nothing. In the end, only the tribe with the most resources left will survive.

EVO is the game of dinosaur conquest in hostile lands. Designed by Philippe Keyaerts, creator of Small World, EVO features handsome wooden dinosaurs, dozens of heavy card counters, and spectacular art. Ready the tribe and prepare your thunder lizards– EVO is the game you’ve been waiting millions of years to play!
