I’m certainly looking forward to returning to my favorite gaming convention this year and the folks at Gen Con are gearing up as well. Early event submission begins on January 22nd. Regardless if you’re thinking of running a convention game for the first or happen to be an old pro, you’ll want to mark the date. The fiftieth Gen Con (man, I’m feeling old) takes place August 17th – 20th, 2017 at the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis, Indiana.
If you’re interested in running an event be sure to follow some of the links below as there’s loads of good information to be found.
From Gen Con:
Want to host events and/or run games at Gen Con 50? Have a fun idea for a unique Gen Con experience? Anyone may submit event ideas, gaming or otherwise, for Gen Con!
The Program Management team will begin reviewing events during Early Event Submission, beginning January 22 and lasting until February 19. Events submitted during this time have the highest chance of receiving placement and organizers of these events have the opportunity to receive more feedback from the Program Management team.
Is this your first time submitting an event for Gen Con? Don’t worry; it’s easy! You can start with reading Gen Con’s Tips for New EO/GMs. You also can review the list of game events with unmet high demand from 2016.
All event organizers and GMs should read the updated Event Host Policy thoroughly. The updated policy has key information updates for 2017, including notes on automatic badge refunds and changes to Late Event Submission.
If you have further questions, you can email the Program Management team or ask your question on a specific Community Forum page. There also is an email newsletter just for event organizers and GMs with pertinent information on running events at the convention.
Events provide joy for thousands of attendees, and your event may be just the one that Gen Con is looking to add!
