Gamewright has announced yet another game in their upcoming 2011 lineup and it will make it’s debut at the NYC Toy Fair.
From Gamewright:
Gamewright, a leading manufacturer of family games based in Newton, Massachusetts, is proud to announce the imminent release of an imaginative new card game called GUBS as part of its 2011 game lineup. GUBS was previously self-published by inventor Cole Medeiros, who sold through his print run due to a groundswell of grassroots buzz. Gamewright picked up the world-wide rights to the game and plans to unveil a brand new, re-designed version of GUBS along with seven other new games at NY Toy Fair in February 2011.
GUBS is a 20 minute card game for 2-6 players, ages 10 and up. Players will discover a lushly illustrated fantasy world based around a group of imaginative creatures called Gubs. The object of the game is to build the mightiest Gub colony, while fighting off a myriad of traps, lures, and other surprising events. Victory lies down an ever-changing path and no one is safe until the final card falls!
According to Medeiros, GUBS was in the making since his childhood, when he and his brother would sketch drawings in the margins of homework assignments. Over the years, GUBS grew into a world that felt very real. “GUBS has a fantastic balance of luck and strategy,” says Medeiros. “The luck helps to level the playing field, creating a game where even the youngest most inexperienced gamer has a chance to win. But there’s enough strategy to keep older players interested, even to the point where some advanced strategies exist. It is the perfect family game because it appeals to all ages.”
“I’m thrilled to bring GUBS into the Gamewright family and look forward to introducing this fantastic game to a wider audience,” says Jason Schneider, product development and marketing manager for Gamewright. “We’re known for creating ‘Games for the Infinitely Imaginative’ and I can think of few more perfect games to complement our company motto. Between the rich illustrations, whimsical characters, and simple but elegant rules, GUBS has all the trappings of a Gamewright classic.”
