The Things We Leave Behind Back Cover (Stygian Fox Publishing)Following a successful Kickstarter run Stygian Fox Publishing has released The Things We Leave Behind for 7th Edition Call of Cthulhu. While the description leads me to believe the six scenarios contained in the book aren’t necessarily Mythos related, I have to say my interest is certainly piqued. The 138 page PDF is currently available atย DriveThruRPG for $19.99.

Oh… and be warned the tales are for mature gamers!

From Stygian Fox:

The Things We Leave Behindย is an anthology of 6 modern day scenarios for the Call of Cthulhu roleplaying game published by Chaosium, Inc, edited by Jeff Moeller, and written by Brian M. Sammons, Scott Dorward, Simon Brake, and Jeff Moeller.ย Art by Davide Como and Stephanie McAlea.

Taking its inspirational cues from Delta Green, Fargo, Blood Simple, and True Detective, the book takes a mature look at the horror of human nature and its ability to be just as disturbing as anything from the Mythos.ย

The scenarios deal with unavoidable fates, dark secrets, and seriously bad choices made by the antagonists. As so often is the case, there are no winners when fate has trapped you in a dice game for doom or destiny. As such, please be aware that some of the themes are quite mature and are suitable for adult gamers only.ย

  1. Hi Jeff,
    Thanks for the mention! ๐Ÿ™‚
Just to reassure you, each scenario has some element of the Mythos in it.

    [SPOILERS!]
2 have Gods in them, 1 is partially in the Dreamlands, 1 has a mythos entity/monster, and 2 have the tangential effects the mythos can have on people, only 1 can be described as non-mythos cosmic horror (although the entity in that wouldn’t be distinguishable as non-mythos from a player perspective).

How those are jumbled up in the book… well, that would be telling ๐Ÿ˜‰
