This October Lead a Witches Coven in Septima from Mind Clash Games

Next month will see the release of an interesting looking witchcraft related board game from Mindclash Games. In Septima, players will lead their coven of witches as they each aim to be named the successor to the titular High Witch. Septima is for one to four players, ages 12+, plays in around 25 minutes per player, and will carry an MSRP of $60.00. The game’s first expansion, Shapeshifting & Omens, is also arriving at the same time and will carry an MSRP of $20.00. Both are slated for October releases.

About the game and expansion:

Septima is a competitive, high-interaction strategy game of witchcraft. As the leader of a coven, you strive to overcome your rivals to become the worthy successor of Septima, the High Witch.

You play through four seasons, each consisting of five rounds, to gather a powerful coven of witches and gain enough Wisdom points to become the worthy successor. You will accumulate Wisdom as you practice your craft in the superstitious town of Noctenburg: Gather ingredients, brew powerful Potions, perform Rituals, heal the afflicted, and work in the shadows to turn suspicion and anger into support and acceptance.

Septima invites players into a rich world with mechanisms that satisfy both Euro-gamers and thematic game enthusiasts. The rules are easy to understand due to their thematic connections, while they also contain great tactical and strategic depth.

Then we have the Shapeshifting and Omens expansion.

Rumors are abound in Noctenburg: The townsfolk whisper of sights of strangely humanlike animals in their homes, the hospital, and even the court. Ominous omens indeed… Gain new abilities as you shift into your powerful Animal Form, and beware of the looming Omens in this modular expansion for Septima.

The expansion not only adds extra content to the game, but also forces players to rethink their usual strategies. The Omens module gives players a new objective with the low Suspicion level, while they need to adapt to new negative/positive effects every turn. The Shapeshifting expansion adds new abilities and allows players to gain the upper hand by timing their actions wisely.
