Avengers AcademyThere has arguably never been a better time to be a fan of comic book heroes. While comic book geeks (and we use the term lovingly) have extolled the virtues of this medium for decades, even people who have never picked up a comic book have gotten to know and love their favorite characters through a variety of outlets. Hollywood in particular is certainly enamored with comic books. Every year it seems as though there are more movies and TV shows featuring heroes who originally appeared in two dimensions on colorful pages. And while some of those attempts are not as great as others (is there ever going to be another good Superman movie?), there have definitely been a few standouts.

In addition to movies and television, game makers have also taken advantage of the superhero craze. There have been numerous games—of the video, board, computer, and mobile device variety—that have been released just in the past few years alone, and more are coming out all the time. While it is impossible to be bored with the selection, it can also be rather daunting to find a game that is worth playing or, more importantly, worth playing again. But there is a game slated to be released next year that might just fall into this category.

Marvel Avengers Academy, created for iOS and Android devices, includes all of the characters you know and love, but with a bit of a twist: they are in school. That’s right, all of those strong and powerful superheroes are now just teens struggling to get through typical rites of passage, like dates or dealing with bullies. (Yes, even the Avengers have bullies.) Players help guide Iron Man, Hulk, Black Widow, and even Loki through school to develop their special powers. They do this by building campuses and adding features like classrooms, labs, dorms, and even stadiums. Other confirmed characters in the game include Hawkeye, Captain American, Ms. Marvel, and Thor. Look for the Marvel Avengers Academy to be released at some point before March 2016.

A New, Different Marvel Game

If you don’t want to wait that long to play a great Marvel game, one site has got you covered. The recently released Marvel Roulette features your heroes (the grown-up versions, of course) in a fun game that is a little different from regular roulette. While you’re still trying to predict where the ball will land on the wheel, this game also contains a special position in addition to numbers 1 through 36. If you place a bet on the Marvel Bonus position and the ball stops there, you go to the Marvel Bonus round. This is a three-reel slot game that uses your initial bet. The object is for three identical Marvel symbols to come up, and you get three spins to make it happen. And if you get those three symbols, you’re immediately imbued with super powers. OK, not really, but you do have the chance to win some dough. If nothing else, Marvel Roulette will help tide you over until you can go back to school with your superhero buddies.

With everything related to Marvel that continues to be released, it’s truly worth repeating that there has never, ever been a better time to be a comic book fan. Not to mention, it’ll be a long time before we ever run out of things to do.
