‘Star Wars: Rogue One’ Cast Announced

One of the big Saturday announcements at Disney’s D23 fan expo was the casting reveal for the upcoming Star Wars: Rogue One. The film will detail the events before Episode IV: A New Hope, as members of the Rebel Alliance set off to steal the plans to the Death Star. The film is being directed by Gareth Edwards (Godzilla) and set for a December 16th, 2016 release.

The cast includes Felicity Jones (The Theory of Everything), Diego Luna (Milk, Killing Them Softly); Ben Mendelsohn (Bloodline); Forest Whitaker (Lee Daniels’ The Butler); Mads Mikkelsen (NBC’s Hannibal); Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen; Jiang Wen (Let the Bullets Fly); Riz Ahmed (Four Lions,Nightcrawler), and Alan Tudyk (Firefly and Serenity) who will provide the framework for a motion captured character.
