I thought it might be time to explain why content has been a bit slim the past week and why there hasn’t been any new episodes of The Daily Dope. I very recently began treatment for early stage cancer of the kidney and the injections I’ve been taking have been making me feel rather horrible, all in together, both physically and mentally. Thankfully there are no indications the cancer has metastasized so I’ll be undergoing cryotherapy a week from today and, in the best case scenario, continuing on with treatments for the next six months or so.

I’ve been told I’ll start getting used to the meds in time but, at this point, they’re ramping up my immune system and really knocking me for a loop, so I spend a lot of time utterly beat and feeling like hell. Add on top of this the current pain – I originally thought I had a bad kidney stone and that’s when they found the abnormal growth – and the general feeling of malaise so it doesn’t put me in a frame of mind to do my usual amount of writing or getting behind the mic; attending the one day of the Phoenix Comicon took a lot out of me, which I would have never imagined.

I know in the next few weeks I’ll be feeling better but in the meantime please stick with us as I’ll do my best to keep content coming along. I honestly won’t be able to handle a full slate of writing, recording daily shows, and shooting video at this point. I’m going to focus on the writing and doing my best to get some vids out there.

Obviously the Kickstarter project I put out there, to help support us covering conventions around the country, was mainly due to the fact of my cancer diagnosis is going to eat up any cash I have (and even more I don’t have…) so it would be really tough to get out there on the convention trail. Sorry to say it was pretty last minute so it’s not as if there’s tons of swag for folks to get. I gave it a shot though and since things aren’t looking promising for the project at least I’ll do my best to keep the site going.

Everyone’s kind thoughts are appreciated and I assure you I have no plans of shuffling off anytime soon. The prognosis is very good and the worst should be behind me in the next couple of weeks or so. I was going to keep this under my hat for the most part but I thought since I try to do my best to be as transparent as possible I’d explain the sort of half-assed Kickstarter and the lack of the usual amount of daily content people have come to expect from TGG as of late.

I’ll thank everyone in advance for pulling for me as I plan on being on the mend soon enough and look forward to providing plenty of coverage of gaming goodness and other fun stuff for years to come!
