I share my review of the Castles & Crusades adventure Visiting Death from Troll Lord Games. This Asian themed tale is designed for three to five characters levels one to three. The player characters will find themselves protecting a village from the return of its evil – and suddenly undead – chief.

SUMMARY

While I do like the fairy tale/mythical vibe of the adventure's background, the proceedings at your game table will simply turn into a combat encounter after combat encounter slog. Sadly, there's little opportunity for clever players to shine either as this boils down to kill this and then kill that. It may not be readily apparent to the players how the undead big bad is to be dealt with either. If you and your gang dig an extremely heavy focus on combat, you might enjoy this but I think Visiting Death missed a real opportunity to show new players and Castle Keepers what makes C&C stand out from the rest of the fantasy RPG crowd.
